5 months ago – Wed, Nov 12, 2025 at 12:29:10 PM

Hello Cat Rescuers!

October was jam-packed with momentum, milestones, and a brand-new game on the horizon. 🐾 Cat Rescue is finally nearing fulfillment, Kittens in Space is closing its pledge manager this weekend, and we are revealing the next title in the Dead Alive Games "Cute Series" — No No Puppy!

We’re sorry this update is landing a little later than usual — between travel to Essen Spiel and so many exciting things happening all at once, October truly flew by. But trust us, it’s been worth the wait.

Meanwhile, Lunar Rush continues its orbit with new video coverage from One Stop Co-op Shop, and our Essen experience and upcoming KublaCon Fall/PAX Unplugged appearances are bringing the year to a strong finish.

Read on for all the latest from Dead Alive Games!

Cat Rescue

The wait is almost over! Cat Rescue: Second Edition has officially landed in New York City and is en route to our Kentucky warehouse.

We expect North American fulfillment to begin the week of November 17th, with other regions following after. Thank you for your patience — the game and accessories look absolutely fantastic, and we can’t wait for you to see it in person!

No No Puppy

We’re thrilled to give you a first look at No No Puppy — a brand-new casual bluffing game by Ta-Te Wu, designer of Cat Rescue with adorable art by Zachary Leo, the artist behind Kittens in Space

This lighthearted card game brings bluffing and laughter to the table, where players try to outwit each other with cute puppy cards doing bad things around the house..

We’ll reveal more details soon, but for now, here’s a peek at the draft box art to set tails wagging. Stay tuned for updates as these mischievous puppies get ready to make its debut!

Kittens in Space

The Kittens in Space pledge manager closes this Sunday, November 16th!

This is your last chance to:

  • Get the game at a slight pre-retail discount
  • Grab the Kickstarter-exclusive Big Box (fits sleeved cards)
  • Add the adorable playmat to your collection - if you don't see the playmat in the pledge manager, send us an email!

We’ll post a final reminder on Kickstarter before it officially closes — but if you’ve been waiting to finalize your pledge or get the game, now’s the time!

Lunar Rush Innovations

As we gear up for the Lunar Rush: Innovations Kickstarter in late January, we’re spotlighting some great new videos that revisit the base game and show off what makes it shine.

🎥 Watch One Stop Co-op Shop’s REVIEW and full solo playthrough
It’s the perfect refresher on how Lunar Rush’s simultaneous bidding, dynamic market, and time-based resource system work — and a great way to prepare for the upcoming expansion.

Here’s a reminder of what Innovations adds:

  • 🛰️ Five fully asymmetric factions for completely different strategies
  • 👥 Fifth-player support
  • 🏆 Events, awards, and milestones for those who like to think on their feet

We can’t wait to show you more soon — Innovations brings a bold, strategic twist to your lunar operations!

PAX Unplugged & Taiwan

Heading to PAX Unplugged? Be sure to find Brendan Kendrick at the Knight Moves Café Booth!

He’ll be demoing Lunar Skyline, Cat Rescue, and Kittens in Space. Even better — the father-daughter design team behind Kittens in Space, Jeff and Rylie Wallace, will be there too!

Stop by, play a game, and say hello — we’d love to meet you.

Bernie will be in Taiwan later this month, diving into the local tabletop scene to discover fresh and creative games.

We’re exploring opportunities to co-publish unique Asian titles in the U.S. — so stay tuned for the next phase in Dead Alive Games’ evolution. Exciting things are on the horizon!

Essen Review

Essen Spiel 2025 was a huge success!
Bernie had a fantastic time meeting publishers and players from around the world, showcasing Lunar Skyline, Cat Rescue, and Kittens in Space.

🐾 Cat Rescue sold incredibly well,
🚀 Kittens in Space drew tons of interest, and
🤝 we strengthened our partnership with Tom Roodnat of Vestoland, who continues to do an amazing job distributing our games across Central Europe.

Thank you to everyone who stopped by — your support fuels everything we do.

See you next month — and if you’re at PAX Unplugged, KublaCon Fall, or Taiwan, come say hi!

September 2025 Recap - 🐾 Major Fun, Major Wins, and Cat Rescue on the boat for North America and UK/EU!!
6 months ago – Tue, Oct 07, 2025 at 07:29:05 AM

Hello Cat Rescue team!

September was a powerhouse month for us. Cyber Pet Quest was just named a Major Fun Award winner — a nod to its clever blend of tactical RPG mechanics and accessibility across ages. Lunar Skyline fulfillment mostly wrapped up, and Cat Rescue is officially on the water heading to backers worldwide. Meanwhile, Kittens in Space is gearing up for its pledge manager launch as we prep for PAX Unplugged and Essen to close out the year strong.

Read on for the latest adventures from Dead Alive Games!

Cat Rescue

Cat Rescue is officially on the water! 🚢 Games are en route to the US, UK, and Rest of World fulfillment hubs. The ships are expected to arrive in early November, though schedules are shifting daily with the holiday season rush.

If you’d like to track the container headed to the US, it’s aboard the EVER FAVOR — you can follow its voyage here:

🌍 Track the ship on VesselFinder →

Cyber Pet Quest

Kicking things off with something we’re really proud of — Cyber Pet Quest just picked up a Major Fun Award from the Spiel Foundation! The review called it “a story-driven tactical RPG in cardboard form, translating video game mechanics like character leveling, skill trees, and turn-based combat into an approachable, cooperative tabletop experience.”

We poured countless hours into bringing these quirky cybernetic pets to life, so seeing the game recognized for its mix of strategy, teamwork, and heart means the world. Huge thanks to the Spiel Foundation — and to everyone who’s joined us on this pixel-meets-paw adventure.

Kittens in Space

Thanks so much for your patience — the Kittens in Space pledge manager is almost ready! You’ll receive an email from Hive Pledge Manager sometime in the coming week, along with a separate update on the Kickstarter page once it’s live.

Apologies for the delay — we needed to receive the full production sample first to confirm the weights and sizes of every component so shipping costs would be accurate. The good news: everything looks great, and we’re almost ready to open things up.

And yes — as mentioned last month, you’ll be able to add the new playmat in the pledge manager! We just got the production sample and it looks AMAZING!

Please note that the price is TBD

Lunar Skyline

Check out Kimberly Tolson’s excellent Lunar Skyline review and giveaway on the Tabletop Tolson YouTube channel. She dives deep into what makes the deluxe edition shine — and her enthusiasm is infectious. Thank you Kimberly again for your long-time support of our games!

Lunar Rush Innovations

We’re thrilled to share a brand-new preview of Lunar Rush: Innovations from Ten Times Ten Games — one of our longtime favorites and fellow Bay Area creators! Huge thanks to Becka and Lin for their energy and thoughtful deep dive into the prototype.

We’re currently targeting a late January launch for Lunar Rush: Innovations. By steering clear of the holiday rush, we can focus on polishing the Kickstarter page, wrapping up the launch trailer, and giving the expansion the spotlight it deserves.

Essen Preview

If you’re heading to Essen Spiel, be sure to stop by Vestoland’s booth (4G-125)! They’ll have Cat Rescue: 2nd Edition and Lunar Skyline — both the Standard and Deluxe editions — available for sale throughout the show.

Bernie will be there on Friday and Saturday afternoons, and Ta-Te Wu (designer of Cat Rescue) will be there as well. It’ll be great to connect in person, chat about the games, and meet some of you face-to-face.

Come by to say hi, check out the games, and help us spread the word at Essen!

August 2025 Recap - Cat Rescue Fulfillment Update and Other Games!
7 months ago – Wed, Sep 03, 2025 at 07:23:35 AM

Hello Cat Rescuers!

After the whirlwind of early August, the rest of the month brought a welcome breather. We finally had the chance to push forward on some big milestones: kicking off worldwide fulfillment for Lunar Skyline Deluxe, wrapping up Cat Rescue manufacturing and its pledge manager, and getting Kittens in Space manufacturing samples underway. GenCon was an absolute blast—always amazing to meet some of you face-to-face and hear your feedback on our games!

Read on for the full scoop.

Cat Rescue

The pledge manager has officially closed! We’re now preparing the finished copies to be packed onto pallets and shipped out to our fulfillment hubs (US, UK, and RoW via China). This stage usually takes a couple of weeks of logistical wrangling, but our goal is to have the games on ships by the end of September.

If all goes to plan, we’re aiming for November fulfillment in North America and UK/EU. Once we know which ships your kittens are hitching a ride on, we’ll share the details with you!

Kittens in Space

With the Cat Rescue pledge manager now wrapped up, we’re getting Kittens in Space all set up next. And when you log in, you’ll find a little surprise waiting for you—an idea that sparked during GenCon and that we just had to make real:

The Kittens in Space Playmat! (or, if you prefer, a giant mousepad for maximum kitten chaos).

Please note that the art and design are still in progress and pricing is TBD

Stay tuned for pledge manager details coming soon to your Kickstarter email inbox!

Lunar Skyline

The deluxe card replacement packs have finally landed at our fulfillment hubs around the world (US, UK, and RoW via China)! We know it’s been a wait—especially for our non-US and deluxe backers—and we sincerely apologize for the delay. But quality comes first, and we’re now confident the durability of the deluxe game is where it should be.

US backers: Most of you should already have your games in hand by the time you read this.

UK/EU backers: Fulfillment is set to begin within the week.

Rest of World: Shipping will take a bit longer given the spread-out nature of these deliveries.

For more details, check out our latest Kickstarter update

Lunar Rush Innovations

The previews keep rolling in! This month, we’re spotlighting Dr. Brains (Brian McDonald) as he shares his first look at Lunar Rush: Innovations and his thoughts on the prototype. Since Lunar Rush was his Game of the Year in 2023, the big question is: does the expansion live up to the hype?

If you haven’t already, follow the Kickstarter Preview Page—so when launch day arrives, we can smash that goal right out of orbit! 🌕✨

As for timing: with US tariffs still in flux, we’re currently targeting January 2026 for launch. Hopefully by then we’ll see a more stable tariff situation with China (fingers crossed 🤞).

GenCon Recap

GenCon 2025 is officially in the books—and what a blast it was! Having a 20x10’ booth this year was a game-changer, especially since we doubled our lineup from 3 to 6 games. With both a sci-fi side and a cute side, our booth had a little something for everyone.

A massive shoutout to Charlie McCarron (Lunar Skyline designer), Sally Nagle (our super intern), and Tessa DeBois (DAG booth regular) for holding down the fort. Without their help, we would’ve been completely overrun by the waves of excited visitors!

Here are a few snapshots from the con—thanks again to everyone who stopped by. We’re already looking forward to going even bigger in 2026!

Essen

Essen is almost here! While Dead Alive Games won’t have an official booth this year, you can still find us thanks to Tom Roodnat of Vestoland, who will be representing both Dead Alive Games and Sunrise Tornado (Ta-Te Wu’s company) at Booth 4G-125.

Want to help spread the word? Head over to our Boardgamegeek Essen Spiel 2025 Preview  page and give it a like—every click helps get more eyes on our games!

That's it for this month!

Cat Rescue Pledge Manager is OPEN!
8 months ago – Fri, Aug 08, 2025 at 06:24:24 PM

Hello Cat Rescuers!

Today is the day you’ve all been waiting for!!

You should receive an email from Backerkit, inviting you to complete your pledge manager for Cat Rescue!

How to Use BackerKit

Check your inbox and spam filter for an email from BackerKit ([email protected]). Your email may not arrive until later today, so check again later if you don’t see it immediately.

Follow the onscreen prompts to confirm your pledge level and any add-ons purchased during the campaign. If you’d like to upgrade your pledge level, click the “Switch your Pledge Level” link at the bottom of the first screen:

In the next screen, you’ll be able to add extra copies of Cat Rescue, buy accessories and add-ons, or get copies of our other games and accessories!

Once you’ve made your final add-on selections, hit “Next” and confirm your address. Finally, you will enter your payment information to cover the balance of shipping charges and any selected add-ons.

As mentioned in our Kickstarter campaign, shipping and taxes were not included in your original Kickstarter payment. Shipping, and any applicable taxes and duties, will be charged at checkout of the pledge manager and will be based on the total weight of your order and your geographic region.

The pledge manager will be open through Friday, August 22, 2025.

Local Pickup

There are 2 options for Local Pickup: an event at Gamescape in San Francisco, we are targeting October for this event. Exact date and time are TBD. There will also be a local pickup option by arrangement in Minneapolis/St. Paul. The charge for local pickup is $3 to cover our costs.

If you want to do local pickup, select "Local Pickup" from the shipping country drop down list when you begin your survey:

If you commit to an event and are not able to make it, or are unable to make arrangements for pickup in Minneapolis/St. Paul, you will be responsible for arranging shipping with us and paying the shipping cost.

If you have any questions about the pledge manager process, BackerKit, or anything related with your order, please use the "Need help?"  link in the bottom right corner of the pledge manager, and someone will get back to you very soon!

Thank you!

Cat Rescue Wasn’t Enough. Now They’re in Kittens in Space. 12 Hours Left!

Cat Rescuers!

Cat Rescue Fulfillment

Following up quickly on last week's note on the advanced copies. Unfortunately after chasing different FedEx offices and the US customs office for over a week, we still have no updates on where our advanced copies meant for GenCon are.

For the regular fulfillment, we'll be opening the pledge manager very soon (there were some blockers with account verification that slowed us down last week), so stay tuned for that. It'll be open for only a couple of weeks because the games are DONE and ready to be shipped out to our distribution centers around the world.

Kittens in Space Ends in 12 Hours!

Time is literally running out—our Kittens in Space campaign ends in 12 hours!

1,200+ backers have already joined the mission to rescue these low-gravity furballs on the Moon, and we’ve raised over $52,000 to launch this chaotic card game into the cosmos.

We even unlocked our final stretch goalevery single card will be foil-stamped. This will truly be the most cosmic card game you'll ever own.

But if you haven’t backed yet…
👉 This is your last chance to adopt your space kitten crew before they float off forever.

Don’t let the kittens down. They’ve got tiny helmets on. 🐱🪐

Back Kittens in Space before it ends!

See you across the finish line!
